Well, when I say crunchy in this context, I mostly mean that I, when writing, have to work to get the effect I want. For RPF, this mostly means research and thinking and understanding how to really express the themes I'm interested in and can see in the history. I also want, though who knows how effective I am, for my reader to be able to have a deeper reading experience if they want it.
