I think that someone will troll the socktopus like ff_d and ars_belli were trolled. It will most likely go "too far" and end up getting them an extra gift, which will make everyone mad at the person that tried to make a name for themselves by doing it in the first place.
We are definitely going to have some hypothetical question wank where coalies/nonnies get too paranoid about thinking that it's their author. I don't think another round of poly or no canon relationships wank will get much traction. I think we're going to get something niche that people get really upset over, like what counts as established relationship or mental illness.
There will be some mini-challenge that gets people mad.
Tag shaking will reveal something that makes a recip dislike their gift before reading.
Someone will write COVID-19 fic in a way that isn't sensitive at all thinking that they've tapped into the zeitgeist.
Now that MFTF isn't appearing and nonnies seem sad about it, I think one of the BFE "clique" members will make an exchange that runs adjacent to Yuletide which will make the "Yuletide is Dying" crowd lose their minds. That or there will be a flash exchange that encourages people to request the exact same things as Yuletide and there will be wank over the flash authors having an advantage because what if they pick the prompt that the Yuletide author also picked and now their fic will go live before/at the same time as the Yuletide author's and steals their thunder?????
